Goodwin was a theorist who had ideas about music videos which were;

1. He said that the music video demonstrates genre characteristics which is where a certain type of music (e.g. Rock) will use certain types of images or a certain style (e.g. Stage performance) to get the genre across to the audience.
2. He said there will be a relationship between the video and the lyrics where the video will either be; Illustrative where they illustrate what the lyrics say, Amplifying where they exaggerate what the lyrics say, or Contradicting where they go against what the lyrics say.
3. He said there will be a relationship between the lyrics and the visuals where the visuals couldbe either; Illustrative, Amplifying or Contradicting.
4. He said that due to demands from the record label close-ups will need to be taken of the artist andalso the artist may develop motifswhich could occur across their work (e.g. Michael Jacksons White Glove appeared in some of his videos).
5. He also said that there may be intertextual references in the video's which will link to films and that may spoof the films (e.g. Foo Fighters video Walk spoofs the 1993 film Falling Down).

These are all analysis' of a digi pak by a band called Hard-Fi (Stars of CCTV)

Brand Identity is where the media products that have been created (e.g. an advert, a digi-pak and a music video) all link together through Production, Distribution, Marketing and Consumption so that anyone can recognise that they are all part of the same brand, company, etc...

For my brand identity I will have a hooded figure in my video who will appear on the front cover of my digi-pak and on my magazine advert and this will tell the audience that they are all together and it will also tell them a bit about the genre of the music (lonely, slightly depressive, etc...)
