Making of Ancillary Tasks

For the making of the ancillary tasks I used Adobe Photoshop so that I could give my work the effects I wanted to give it so that it would apply to the conventions of an advert or a digi-pack.

Advert

This is the first step of creating my advert and I have a black background with the title of the album and the artist on too, this is just black copy with a white outline.

This is the next step of my advert making and I have inserted the image that is on the album too, the image is a person with their hood over their eyes to cover their identity (Strangers) and the lighting is on top of the person highlighting the hood.

For this step of my making I have added ‘reviews’ from ‘magazines’ which is a convention of an advert so that it will drag in my audience to buy the album.

For my final step I have added the record label, the date of release and the website for the band which is also a convention of an advert so that people know when it is released and where to ‘keep up’ with the band also where I have placed the date makes it look like the date is the end of something.

Digi-Pack

I got a Digi-pack template from the VLE and with that I used it to star t my Digi-pack itself by filling it with the colour black which is the colour of the final product’s background.

I have added the title and artist name to the digi-pack along with the image of the mysterious person which links with the artist name ‘The Strangers’. These have the same effects linked with them like the title and image on the advert.

In this step I have added some of the song titles to the rear of the digi-pack and also I have added the title of the album and the artist to the spine of the digi-pack so that it can be recognised on a shelf in a store.

In this step I have put a silhouette of a person in the distance on a path which I created myself, this links in with the artist name as you cannot make out who the person is.

In this step I have added the record label (XL Records) and a ‘website’ for my artist as these apply to the conventions of a digi-pack.

In this step I have added more song titles and also I have added a barcode and a copyright symbol to make the digi-pack more realistic, also I have added a ‘thank you’ note on the path where the ‘stranger’ is  which is quite common on a debut album package.
